In their natural habitats, animals spend most of their time to find food. Every zookeeper knows, that animals in captivity get easily bored so they would never just put food down in their cages. Quite the contrary: They sophisticatedly hide the food so the animals have to search for it or even have to pull it out of holes by using sticks. Why would this be different with fish? With the Fishtoy Drawer you keep your fish busy for many hours in order to get their food.
You fill the drawer with defrosted food (such as mysis) and stick it with the suction cups to the inside of your fish tank. Choose a place with no or low current from your pumps. Initially, this new thing will intimidate your fish. After a few minutes they will, attracted by the smell of the food, get close and start picking at the drawer. For the first few days, you might want to not fully close the drawer so bits of food are released to attract shy fish and give an incentive.
After a few weeks, you will notice, that one or several fish have learned to open the drawer. Who is the cleverest fish in your tank? In my aquarium it is crystal clear: Boxfish “Kofi” is the man!
